Spammers, Lets Fight

One of the side-effects of a famous weblog/website is the attack of the spammers.

The spam has started and I have decided to delete all the spam comments. Lets see how many I get.

I hate spammers myself. However, it's tough to determine what is spam and what is not sometimes. For example, am I spamming if I simply sign of with my signature?

There has been some new stuff going on with the SPAM-BLOG community. Alot more SPAM is being sent through blogs because of crackdowns on the more obvious ones, i.e, email SPAM. Spamming on ones blog doesnt leave the same footprint, in this case, the headers in an email showing an IP and email route. In this case, the open community, combined with the newly gathered concept of blogging, will lead to more and more spam in the very near future. Sucks doesnt it?

Actually, I find spammers quite funny. Some of the crap they send you is just hilarious...I mean, what's the point in sending women adverts for genital enlargements? Half the time its people you don't know trying to sell you junk, so its always interesting to email them back....

You realize that if you reply to those emails you just create more spam, right? Besides, it goes both ways. I used to get a lot of ads about breast enlargement, and I seriously doubt I am among the target demogrphic for that product!

I report scams and SPAM all the time, recently I personally had a hand in having an international scam removed from a job listing site. Today, I reported a SPAM artist promoting porn, as well as a non-secure CC billing environment. I am having finding them, its become a hobby.

Looks like spam is a very interesting topic.

I agree with you guys that these guys are silly in what they do sometimes. At the end though they are all irritating.

One of the reasons these spammers have embraced the blog world is to come in the "eyes of google".

If they leave anough comments with the links they want then they can go ahead and up their rankings in search or so it seems.

This is a nice way to fool the Google Algorithm. Another thing it is easy for them to do.

For example: my comment system is designed to accept anybody to comment not just Blogger members.

I made it so that it can be easy for people to leave a comment. However, if it really becomes too much of spam then I may have to change it.

Most of the times I like it to be open...

I run a website, and am using (will be using) as a just another doorway to my site. However, I have not, and will not post my site in other blogs. That is where the line begins with spam, bottom line, it is unsolicited. Just as if you were to come to blog and post your link, even back to your own blog, to me that is still spam. Unless of course, I had a prior relationship (business, personal, family), then I may want you to check it out. Other than that, I have taken some things into my own hands and am fighting some people back. The internet is plugged up with people looking to make a quick buck. Me, sure I'd like to start earning, but SPAM is not the answer.

Hey i found this great website where I get all these great downloads. There is a SMALL one-time membership fee and you'll never have to pay again. You can continue downloading as much as you want. Kinda like Itunes...only better! Check it out here:
